DETENTION OFFICERS

The Thomas N. Frederick Juvenile Justice Center is seeking full time detention officers.  Responsibilities include supervision and security for juveniles of the detention facility.  Schedule includes weekends and some holidays.  BS Degree in Criminal Justice or Social Services preferred.  HS diploma required.  Salary is $27,253.00 with degree and $26,332.00 without degree, plus overtime with full benefit package.

The Thomas N. Frederick Juvenile Justice Center is seeking a Detention Assistant Shift Supervisor.  Responsibilities include overseeing control room operations, monitoring Control/Detention Officer performance and assisting the shift supervisor during daily operations of the shift.  Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice, or a Human Services related field preferred; minimum of Associates Degree or 60 college credits in Criminal Justice, or related Human Services field required.  Four years experience working with troubled youth required.  Must be able to work a flexible schedule, to include some weekends and holidays.  Base salary is $27,402 - $27,902 with potential to $30,000 with overtime.  Full benefit package included.

CHILD BEHAVIORAL SPECIALIST

The St. Joseph Probate Court is seeking a Child Behavioral Specialist for its Social Services/Mental Health Department.  This person must demonstrate a passion for working with at risk juveniles and their families.  Responsibilities include administering assessment tools used during the intake and classification part of placement in secure detention. Applicant must be able to prepare a psych-social history, risk and needs assessment, develop individual treatment plans and facilitate various programs within the detention facility. Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or Psychology required, Masters Degree preferred with a minimum of two years experience working in a related field with at risk juveniles, coupled with individual and group counseling skills.  Work schedule is 1:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. Saturday through Wednesday.  Salary range is $30,000 to $32,908.00 per year dependent on qualifications and experience with full benefit package.

SPECIAL DEPUTY

Responsibilities include providing security for the entire Probate Court/Thomas N. Frederick Juvenile Justice facility.  Minimum of a high school diploma with training and certification in security and law enforcement procedures required.  Must possess good verbal and written communication skills, a valid driver’s license, an excellent work record, and the ability to deal diplomatically and effectively with a diverse population.  Normal work hours are 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM Tuesdays and Thursdays.  Annual salary is $24,500.00 with full benefit package.
