PROBATION OFFICER

Responsible for conducting preliminary inquiries, pre-disposition investigations with defendants, making recommendations to the courts, and supervising probation clients for enforcement of court orders and probation terms.  Must be well organized, possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work in a team setting.  Bachelors Degree in the criminal justice or social sciences from an accredited college/university required.  Starting salary for this position is based on the State of Indiana salary schedule starting at $30,839.00 annually, with full benefit package.  Candidate must obtain probation officer certification within six months of employment. 

 

REGISTERED NURSE

The St. Joseph Probate Court seeks a registered nurse for its 60 bed Juvenile Detention Center.  In conjunction with and under general supervision of a physician, renders professional nursing to the facility and staff.  Duties include assessing nursing needs; plans and implements care in conjunction with the staff physician, and evaluates care given to all persons.  Conducts health related in-services and maintains all medical records in an accurate, confidential and timely manner.  Bachelorís Degree in Nursing required and must possess current RN license from the state of Indiana.  Certification in phlebotomy required.  Minimum of three years nursing experience required, preferably in a correctional, detention, or residential treatment facility.   Work schedule is flexible to cover facility needs. Salary range is up to $55,651.00 annually, commensurate with qualifications and experience with full benefit package.

 

DETENTION OFFICERS

Thomas N. Frederick Juvenile Justice Center is seeking full time detention officers.  Responsibilities include supervision and security for juveniles of the detention facility.  Schedule includes weekends and some holidays.  BS Degree in Criminal Justice or Social Services preferred, HS diploma required.  Salary is $30,219.00 with degree and $29,250.00 without degree, plus bonus incentives and overtime with full benefit package. 

 

SPECIAL DEPUTY

Responsibilities include providing security for the entire Probate Court/Thomas N. Frederick Juvenile Justice facility.  Minimum of a high school diploma with training and certification in security and law enforcement procedures required.  Must possess good verbal and written communication skills, a valid driverís license, an excellent work record, and the ability to deal diplomatically and effectively with a diverse population.   Annual salary is $27,805.00 with full benefit package. 

 

INSTITUTIONAL COOK

The Thomas N. Frederick Juvenile Justice Center seeks a full time cook.  High school diploma or GED required with minimum of two years experience in an institutional setting preferred.  Must be familiar with all facets of food and meal preparation, safety standards and sanitary procedures.  Must have an excellent attendance and work record.  Normal work hours are 10:30 A.M. to 6:30 P.M. Monday through Friday with alternating weekend and shifts.  Annual rate of pay is $25,612.00 with full benefit package.
